Asylum seekers and refugees' rights to housing in the Netherlands are hampered by a limited availability of places in the reception centres, as well as frequent moving from centre to centre, leaving people in a constant situation of stress and uncertainty. But challenges in finding proper accommodation are not limited to migrants and refugees, but they are the representation of a whole housing system in crisis.

We have invited today Hidaya and Melissa to talk about housing with our host Joygail. Hidaya, an activist and a feminist from Uganda, founder of the Amsterdam City Rights coalition, shares with us the difficulties of finding a house as an asylum seeker. Melissa, founder of the WoonProtest, explains us why the housing market in the Netherlands is collapsing.

Together, their stories prove that it is not true that refugees are stealing our houses, as some people believe.
