In this bonus episode of ‘Making it’ in Western Europe, we are joined by Selin Bucak, a Turkish journalist currently based in Paris whose new book The Last Day Before Exile: Stories of Resistance, Displacement & Finding Home recently came out.

Selin reflects on her own migration background and why she decided to write this book in the first place, the special sensitivity needed to discuss such a painful topic, the challenges and structural barriers awaiting refugees upon arrival, growing anti-migration sentiments in Europe and beyond, and what could be done to improve the current situation.

This conversation complements our mini series focusing on stories of forced displacement and political refugees and the challenges they have to face during their integration process.
