Director: Thomas Rotenberg Film: Hypnotic State Analysis Synopsis: As capitalism and fascism increasingly strangle societal and environmental progress, we are all placated by superficial status signifiers, lulled into an almost hypnotic feedback loop of performance and adulation, however hollow it may be. even as the end approaches and downfall is inevitable, we remain entranced and hypnotized by these ultimately meaningless and transitory signifiers, continuing to dance, distracted, into oblivion. Director: Monet Clark Film: Colonial Climate, The Great Unraveling Synopsis: Tracking the colonial roots of climate change and our democratic structure, this work explores the concepts of empire, and dominion over earth, animals, and peoples of foreign lands, white supremacy, and plundering. It examines the resultant imbalances of these, within our biosphere, and the interplay with internalized misogyny. Floating in 2020â??s Northern California air quality index 600 toxic smoke, we find a Yogini and her California Condor consorts challenging the status quo which isnâ??t moving fast enough to solve climate change. This work explores the sentience of animals and nature and respect for the yin/feminine/water element, as a means to counter climate change.
