In this episode, Paula and me (Mohamed) discuss experiences and differences between the Netherlands and in Spain. We talk about creative initiatives that challenge the position of undocumented people, and Paula explains how people unionize in Spain.
In this expectations versus reality episode, I discuss with Hidaya how our image of the Netherlands before coming here differs from our lived experiences. Under the impression that human rights are protected in a country that is wealthy enough to do so, we crossed the border to come here in a search for safety. We now know that although we crossed the physical border, there are many more borders to cross before our human rights are safeguarded.
In this expectation versus reality episode, I discuss with Yusuf how the Dutch exclusion system creates inferiority complexes among undocumented people, and deprives us of continuity of life. We argue that a City Card could open doors for us to continue our lives, regardless of how the IND handles our cases.
In this episode we, Dennis and Teferi, discuss the reality of criminalization of undocumented people in the Netherlands. Not having any form of identification makes people victim to profiling, and results overall uncertainty in daily life. How can we best protect people from this? How can we, citizens of Amsterdam, collaborate to create a safe and inclusive city for all?

In this episode we, Dennis and Mpanzu discuss ethnic profiling and the possible safety that a city card could bring. Mpanzu Bamenga organized a lawsuit in cooperation with Amnesty International among others, to challenge ethnic profiling done by the Koninklijke Marechaussee at the borders of the Netherlands. Although Mpanzu's group lost, the Koninklijke Marechaussee has now stated in response to the lawsuit that they will no longer practice ethnic profiling. A huge win!
This episode is a conversation between me, Mohamed Bah, and Michiel Bot. We discuss the origin of the City Card in New Haven and the existence of the IDNYC (the New York City ID card). What advantages could a City Card bring in Amsterdam, both to undocumented people and documented people?

Welcome to the first episode of City Rights Radio! In this episode you hear us, Mohamed and Mular, discuss the issues that we face as a result of not having the right documentation to reside in the Netherlands. We share how policies that are created impact our daily lives. Why are we not treated as human beings, but as "illegals", "dangerous" and "liabilities"?
