Lazy Aizada and Lazy Dinara dive into a deep chat on female friendships and alternative ways of belonging outside of traditional nuclear family structures. They explore why we are taught, or expected, to give less value to female friendships than finding a partner, and how the pandemic challenged the notions of who we are and can be really close to - both physically and emotionally. The conversation considers the unique support that female friends provide for each other and how we can nurture such relationships, despite long distances, external pressures, and other challenges. Tune in for this insightful, engaging and thought-provoking chat with two of your Lazy gal pals! Did you ever wonder how we can apply feminist principles to the realities of paid and unpaid work? And how we can use rest and remuneration to create structural change? In this episode, Lazy Lauren talks to Ellie Sugden, co-founder of Our Generation for Inclusive Peace (OGIP) - a grass-roots, youth-led organisation founded on feminist principles. Lauren and Ellie dig deep into how feminism is applied in OGIP’s day-to-day and what it means to do such important work on a voluntary basis. From how women engage in voluntary labour in capitalist structures to the importance of remuneration and finding space for rest, the conversation covers how to fit unpaid work into the daily realities and financial struggles, while still making time for necessary laziness! As the Lazy Women logo suggests, we enjoy a glass of wine (or two…) alone, with friends, and with other loved ones. But how much time do we take to consider where that wine comes from, how much effort it took to make, and what’s really in the glass? In our latest podcast episode, natural wine consultant and creator of Natúr Magazin, Rebeka Gyorfi, chats with winemaker and owner of Maison Maenad, Katie Worobeck. Hailing from Canada and now based in Jura, France, Katie talks about her journey into the world of wine, the decision to move - and ultimately stay - in France, and the ups and downs of living in a small rural community. They cover everything from wellbeing and self-care, to social and ecological justice, to the complexities of being a sober-curious wine producer - all within the context of being a woman in a male-dominated industry. So grab a beverage of choice, tune in and enjoy! :)) To learn more about Katie and her vineyard: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/maison_maenad/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcsE4egFXBg To learn more about Rebeka and the fascinating world of natural wine: Website: http://naturmagazin.com/ Business Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/naturalwineretreats/ Personal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rebekagyorfi/ Articles on natural wine: https://www.rawwine.com/learn/what-is-natural-wine/ https://lazywomen.com/bar/whitney-pope-whit-wine/ https://lazywomen.com/bar/of-wine-and-women-magic-through-the-looking-glass-with-christina-rassmussen/ https://lazywomen.com/canteen/of-wine-and-women-1-szolo-winery/ And to hear more from us! We still have a long way to go in our war against patriarchy. But there is hope(!) with many societies around the world becoming more gender equal over time. But how did the patriarchy come about? What were its drivers in history? And how come certain countries manage to approach gender equality, while others lag behind? Our today’s guest, Dr. Alice Evans interviewed by Ayşe Göç from the Lazy Women team, is here to help you trace the global history of gender divergence and the most important drivers of gender equality! She travelled to many countries, got immersed in local communities, and enriched her research through these encounters. She is a great scholar, an inquisitive spirit, and believes in the healing power of supporting women. You can also look forward to voices of some of our contributors, sharing personal stories about struggle that women still face in their own countries. We hope you will enjoy! Are men funnier than women? What is a punchline gap? And has cancel culture killed our ability to joke around? In today’s episode, Selin Bucak interviews The Clit Comedy Club! Also known as Anshita Koul, a software engineer turned comedian from India, and Mari Volar, a comedian, producer and musician from Estonia. In the episode, we cover everything you ever wanted to know about female comedians: from political correctness and the punchline gap to online bullying and getting cancelled! You may think that The Clit Comedy Club creators consciously use humour as a tool of political activism, but they say that they are just talking about their own experiences. For them, everything is political, especially when covering topics like queerness, fat-shaming or being an immigrant. And the best news: The Clit Comedy Club is currently on tour with their “Clitoris Act” performance!!! Their Budapest showing is already on March 6th with a special Q&A moderated by our one and only Eszter Sólyom. So make sure to get your tickets on time because they won’t last long! Links below. Do feminist folktales exist?
1/28/2023
When we say women in fairy tales, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Witches? Princesses in need? Evil stepmothers? We think it's time to spice up these stereotypes with a healthy dose of feminism! In this episode, Hungary's first international storyteller and writer, Zalka Csenge Virág answers the questions of Ayşe Göç from the Lazy Women team about the image of women in Carpathian folk tales and her journey to become a storyteller. She shares invaluable anecdotes about the evolution of fairy tales and extraordinary images of women that don't fit the classic "evil stepmother" and "princess waiting to be rescued" stereotypes. We are sure that the portrayal of women in classic Hungarian fairy tales will surprise you. Just like us!
